Driving up I-94 between Chicago and Detroit early this AM and received a CO X alert for 1.5 miles.
Is it still in use, or was it mounted to a sign? Too dark to see....

Nope, no X band use around here, at least in the Kzoo area. I turned it off on the V1 a long time ago. Have not heard of X band in Michigan for quite a while.
I haven't encountered any x-band on the freeway. I have driven down to the detroit airport on I96 and all the way up into the Upper Peninsula to the Sault Ste. Marie area. I haven't had my detector that long, so I can't say if it is or isn't around, just that I have yet to see it on anything other than door openers.
Debatable. X band may still be used in various spots up North. They still use x band in Davison MI (near Flint), on route 13 in/around Flint, and one MSP car in the West Branch MI area brings out x band from time to time. The last time I got hit w/ x band in MI was on M-46 coming back from the East side of the state. I think it was either between I-127 and I-75 or I-75 and Port Sanilac (north of Port Huron). No x band in Grand Rapids, K-Zoo or Lansing, but be careful in some of those towns south of k-zoo closer to Indiana. Indiana and Ohio still use x band regularly, you just have to find it.
I94 between Detroit and Port Huron you will find x band from some locals, State not so much.
I75 South of Detroit I picked up x 4 weeks ago in a couple spots, same as above, local boys.
Thanks for that useful information.
I haven't seen area in my area except some false alert stuff. On I-94 in Indiana, I see some stuff if there is a trooper there. But they stay to the I-65 area.
