Question for Mister Suf Daddy; Pimpmaster Radar

Yo suf, what percentage (guestimates ok) of MSP do you think use X band radar?

As well, what percentage of local PD do you think use X band?

I guess I could ask the same question for laser MSP and local PD.

I'll wager the MSP has a few X bands left. These would be in the supervisors car or a non pool unit which wasn't driven much.

Each shiney new police cruiser that comes through the HMI leasing and police sales yard off of Rt 20 across from the Wendy's one mile West from the 495 Exit. Gets a new radar unit installed if the agency orders one.

If they were cheap, I'd say the department could save the $$$ and have a tech swap out the old unit from the old crusier to the new one.

So, I figure the days of X band are almost over.

Some guys like the "better performance" in the rain etc.....

I'd say the town percentage is higher. X band in the berkshires I'll wager a 30 % chance of X band units.

Remember ALL the old crusiers of the MSP had Decatur MVR units, mostly X some K bands..........

Each town is likely to have a very small radar budget and they'll keep the oldie but goodie until it croaks.

3% X band MSP & DOT
30% X band in local PD's
PURELY a GUESS.

Our town has K or POP Ka, I can't tell, but its a Z25.

when I get my V1, ill probably run it in advanced Logic "L", with Ka more responsive, K band mute to 4 leds. That way I'll know about the X and K hits, but I will only be concerned with the strong ones, which will mean, I'll slow when theres an alert. Otherwise I might disregard real alerts if its alerting all the time.

Unless new info has come to light, Z25/35 are all K band POP.

From memory:

I have a "Speedgun" Z-25 manual here.

No mention of POP in it.

Probably and ealier version without POP, IMHO.

Its possible, because my V1 has no laser.......earlier version.
