Default VA VASCAR Lines reported to Trinity DB

I have finished collecting coordinates for all of the VASCAR lines I can find in VA on interstate highways. I just sent this information to Cheetah for inclusion in the Trinity database.

Anyone using a C50 in VA can expect it to start alerting to VASCAR locations during the next month or so (1 or 2 database updates).

Please do not depend solely on C50 warnings, as I gathered this info on Google maps. Road construction and poor picture quality may cause some lines to be missed in google. If you find any that I missed, please send GPS coordinates to cameras@speedcheetah.com

I would encourage anyone living in a state that uses airborne VASCAR to collect this data and report it to Cheetah. That way C50 users will be warned when entering these traps.

To my knowledge no, Some in here had recently posted a news article about an airborne crackdown in VA. In fact VA has nearly double the number of airborne VASCAR markings that we have here in FL. Our program is very much active.

At least from the VSP website it looks like they still operate aircraft.

Then this article indicates they might reinstate the program in 2011.

"The program might be re-instated when times are better. But the lawmaker who sponsored the bill that made aerial patrols possible doesn't expect that to happen until 2011 or later."

Virginia does Air, Land, and Speed initiatives every few months, ticketing thousands of drivers for speeding and other offenses. The primary source of enforcement through it is low-flying airplanes...to my understanding, the airplanes get the speed of the vehicles in which case they are using a timing device (brand-namely, VASCAR).

I remember hearing about the stats from an Air, Land, and Speed initiative just two or so weeks ago on here... so it sounds like Virginia/VSP does still use VASCAR...
