Default PA - Upper Allen, Lower Allen, Camp Hill Police using ENRADD

Over the last year, I've seen these departments and many other departments using ENRADD. Particularly the Upper Allen Police use it on rt 15 all the time, and Camp Hill lazy Police use it the exact same spot (the 35 zone on rt 15 right before you go into Harrisburg) A LOT.

I got a video of Upper Allen Police using it today, here it is:

FYI, I've never yet seen the police try to hide their enradd unit, although ive heard of other police departments doing it. Best defense against enradd is to google some pictures of the unit, know what it looks like, and keep an eye out for it. I've passed enradd speed traps at least 50 times and I've seen them in advance every time.

Good video. I've torn up that road a couple times... guess I better watch out next time.

If I had a truck with a real man's solid steel bumper I'd be really tempted to smash the thing... "Oh sorry officer, I was having a problem with my vehicle and decided to pull over, did you guys put that dangerous obstruction there?"

Easy to see! Love the battery pack and the use only in good conditions.

Does it use infrared. We use infrared timing equipment at auto crosses and it is always screwing up.

I travel this road about once a week, quite common to see VASCAR run at that spot and pretty much all around Dillsburg. They run aerial VASCAR in that area too. John Wilsbach on 93.5 calls out the big speed traps.

Wow yea that stuff really is BS.

What a strange law as well that locals can't use radar. I don't get it

Plus I heard that they don't use laser at all.

Seems like an easy state to speed in, given a radar detector...

No lidar, no moving radar, stationary radar for state police ONLY, as mentioned here. All of this is governed by state law...in fact, as many know, the state has a list telling you what devices you can use beyond that. So PSP can't just choose a radar unit they want to use, it has to be on the approved list. That being said, almost all PSP radar units are over 5 years old already anyhow.

I would never set up at that location...crossing a 55mph road to set up? They can do what they want but I wouldn't cross traffic going that fast and standing on a small shoulder to set up that one on the left.

Nice vid. I drive that road maybe a couple of times a week and have never seen ENRADD used in that location. Of course, I am generally minding my speed there due to the existence of VASCAR lines. I once saw a marked UA PD cruiser parked on the bridge that overlooks the area where the lines are and always wondered how he (no chase car) expected to get through the two intersections before the on-ramp in time to catch up to his target, especially if they get on the Turnpike. More commonly, the LEO sits in that triangular grass area separating the off and on-ramp. But I don't think they can easily see the first reference line from there due to the slope of the hill.

Anyhow, I have to say that I would never expect to see ENRADD there because at daytime the traffic density through there is high enough that it must be just a *little* dangerous to set the thing up! Those UA PD officers must be made of some stern stuff...or maybe lacking a sense of self preservation!!
