    Default PA Info Question

I hope this is the right forum if not please move to the correct one.

I let my daughter take my 9500IX on a road trip from MI to PA. Gave her all the in's and out's on how it works. She said it worked great and was happy to have it.
When she arrived at her destination he friend told her that rds are not legal there.
I said what? Yes they are. I told you they not legal in DC and VA. Her friend has her convinced that they are not legal in PA. She said your wrong dad he lives there and knows the state better than you. So my question is did I miss something? I don't think so. Will someone from PA please chime in.
    Thanks.

I lived there for about 3 years (just moved down to sunny FL ), and I can tell you with certainty, that they are LEGAL. People tried to tell me the same thing that they told your daughter. Most people are clueless. RDs are only illegal in VA/DC, or if you're in a commercial vehicle over 10,000 Lbs. (illegal in all states)

    Me too.

I think most people are so used to the government having the advantage that they can't believe we'd actually be allowed to use RD's. Pretty sad, really.

She went to north east PA on the NY border.
I did forget to tell her about the commercial vehicle law, which would not apply to her anyway.

Thanks guys. I thought I was correct.
I still have people here in MI try to tell me that I can't have one, so I educate them.

People often think that since radar is only used by PSP, they're unnecessary and then they come to the assumption that they're illegal. No clue why but I've heard that reasoning in the past...they usually think that radar in it's entirety is illegal in Pennsylvania too, and then don't understand how PSP was able to time them on a highway where they're going 100...

That's astounding. Anyone taking that big of a risk without actually reading the law for themselves deserves everything they get IMO.
