Default Ohio Turnpike this past Saturday, 5/26/12. WTF??

I crossed Ohio on the Turnpike this past Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Never during my almost two million miles driven have I seen as many cops (~20) in 240 miles, and all but two had cars stopped in order to give the driver a High Speed Award. My Escort Redline was virtually silent. I only saw two cops in the median and both were perpendicular, and I think that both had front windows down. Were they most likely using hand held lasers?
Anybody know for sure what Ohio Staties tend to use?

Cool Re: Ohio Turnpike this past Saturday, 5/26/12. WTF??

Well Ohio is a mixed bag. If parked in center divider they are most likely using Laser shot threw the passenger side window. They seem to have a mixed bag of Laser guns. The only ones I have been able to ID is the Ultralight LR. Just recently got my LI installed and have yet to have a close encounter.

Now radar is also a mixed bag. They still have a bunch of K band (MPH) units with antenna mounted high up on the roof of there cars. Used mostly moving IO mode. They are starting to get new Dodge's painted white or gray. They have have Stalker Ka dual units with antenna mounted front and rear. Have encountered about half a dozen of there new units in last few weeks. Now the real surprise. week before memorial weekend I am south on I75 running about 20+ on my M/C when the V-1 starts giving X band alerts. Pretty much ignore X band when I get alerts. Then full alert on X-band as I am passing a group of trucks. There is OSP south bound shooting x-band in moving mode. WOW, X Band moving. Antenna about the size of paint bucket mounted on top of rear window. I will pay more attention to X-band!

Memorial weekend was also the Gumball 3000 Rally time to come threw Ohio. I saw a couple of cars come by. I wonder if the OSP was giving them some special attention. You Think

    Its Ohio.
Every known speed enforcement tool is used. They probably have more cops on traffic patrol at any given time than the other 49 states combined.
    X, K, Ka, Laser.

And, 75,000 K band drones that cover every mile of interstate.
If your detector doesn't have TSR, you'll receive a K band I/O alert every mile.

I was near Columbus and my yellow convertible evoked instant X-band elven when I was 5 mph under. Pffft!

Worst I saw was about 10 cars in 20 miles, but they were out and pulling people over for what looks like anything.

    Thanks for your replies.
I have experienced that K band alert every mile, especially on I 70, if I remember correctly. Wonder if they can be turned off, as I was not getting those signals last Saturday?

I tend to drive 80 everyday as its the way to work, atleast a few times a month we drive the entire length of it, on memorial day weekend we drove from cle, to toledo on 80 and we seen most of the leo held up with lasers in all the construction zones, or the lack of construction. They made the psl 70 but added more construction zones to do 50mph and thats mainly where your see them posted up, but back on topic, we had one x band hit, but several dozen laser hits on that 2hr stretch of road. Just my 2cents
