Default Annoying K all over I-5 near Seattle, WA

So I've been driving up and down I-5 between Olympia and Seattle for quite some time now. When I first got my Valentine, I would get really irritated at the bursts of K that I would get around DuPont and Fort Lewis areas.

It is usually about every 20-30 seconds, you'd get a full shot of K like a cop had just nailed you with some instant-on. Scares you enough at times to make you jump and hit the brakes, but makes it hard to know when it's a cop or not. I couldn't figure out for the longest time what the deal was. I just assumed maybe it was air traffic radar I was picking up or something.

Just recently, I was reading on the WSDOT website about how they had just started traffic monitoring and set up new cameras in the Olympia area. Well the next day, now I have that same annoying repeating K down the freeways in town. It's killing me.

Now when you're in Seattle, I'm guessing they use the type of radar described in the sticky on the V1 page, and thats why it doesn't go off. But these signals are all new, and probably are using something different to differentiate the directional traffic...

Anybody have any ideas what to do about this? It make the V1 useless from Olympia all the way to Tacoma. And they even are monitoring with these same devices all the way up north of Seattle as well... Around Marysville, etc.

These are traffic monitoring radar drones used for systems such as this:

WSDOT Seattle Area Traffic - Traffic Conditions and Travel Alerts

I took a picture of one on the side of the freeway in Ventura county:

This is how I deal with them using my V1. Enter programming mode and do the following:

    7 down
    b down
    c up
    d up
    e down
    f down
    g down

and I run in little "L" mode.

Here's another way you can set up your V1. Keep in mind I am automuting K-Band just for these radar drone blasts. I run in little "L" mode all the time, highway or city.

X Band: Off (Depends on if your area uses X-Band)
    7: Enabled
    b - C - d : Down, Up, Down (5 Seconds)
    E: Down, Stay Muted
    F: Down, Stay Muted
    J: Down, POP Off

Oh man yeah those are the things!!! They're all over around here, those EXACT ones! Yeah, WSDOT just started doing the traffic monitoring down here in Olympia. Thanks for the tips, I will definitely give the reprogramming a shot. The only thing that scares me about doing any kind of K band muting is that our rural Thurston County Sheriff's officers all use K-based radar units in their cars while roaming. That's where this things has saved me the most too. I guess I will have to play with the different settings and just drive extra slow for a while until I see how it responds...

In little "L" mode, you will still be alerted, but it will be at the muted volume, as opposed to the full volume alerts that you are getting now. If K band is such a threat, maybe lessen your muting time to 5 or 10 seconds, rather than the 30 seconds that I use.

"Goons" is a nickname we use around here for a Seattle based laser jammer testing group(term used very loosely) that seem to always get different results than everyone else, strangely in favor of the unit they happen to be pumping at the time.

Wow that Audi with the big logo on the side looks really familiar. Maybe it's just an Audi thing to put a big ass logo on your car (trying to be a Group-B rally racer somthing?), but I swear I've seen it around. Thanks for the link to that too by the way. Sheds a whole lot of interesting light on the Lidar situation. I guess I need a whole lot more researching before choosing a Lidar defense system.
