Unmarked CHP in SoCal?
Is CHP using any unmarked vehicles on CA freeways? I saw a car that appeared to be pulled over by a black SUV on the 5 freeway near San Anofre nuke plant. SUV had strobe lights in the signal lamps but I didn't see any markings on the paint and no light bar.
The Dodge CHP cruisers are already a bit hard to pick out in the crowd. Hoping they are not adding unmarked vehicles now! The 73 toll road and 5 Fwy between OC and SD is where I make up a lot of lost time...

No totally unmarked CHP. Closest is the White Charger you mentioned.

That is very good to hear! Maybe the Feds were doing a bust. Is there anything in the CA law that prohibits unmarked CHP vehicles?

Seems like everybody is moving fast on that leg of land.

Do not know if it is law or just policy of CHP. But in 21 years of living here I have never ever seen a totally unmarked CHP unit. I did see a white Dodge CHP on the 405 last month that might as well been unmarked, no light bar, tinted windows and lights in grill. Only give away was door emblems. Totally unable to tell from front or rear unless you look very closely.

You have to be on 110% alert on that stretch. Definetitely keeps my adrenaline flowing! I even saw a CHP unit out in the grassy center median area of the 73 once. But for my RD screaming I would not have noticed him until too late as you really don't expect one to be out literally in the grass and weeds. I slowed to the PSL and the poor bastard next to me doing about +5 over in his work truck got pulled over. I felt bad for him getting pulled over for 70 when the average speed in that area has to be over 80.
