    Default carbon fiber fairings?

I am planning on getting a full set of carbon fiber fairings for my f4i.I believe that I read somewhere on here that carbon won't reflect or absorbs laser and was wondering if this would be true for carbon fiber also?

not exactly sure but i do know if state requires a front plate that and the headlights will reflect the laser allowing the laser gun to get the speed on you

I'm sure those fairings will be pricey.

If you're concerned about laser, install the Blinder jammers. They work very well.

$1400 for the full set http://www.oppracing.com/bodywork.php?id=33#41 (not too bad considering the stock fairings cost over $2000).I'm getting them mainly for the looks and it's going to cost about that much for the custom paint that I wanted anyway but blocking a laser gun would be a plus.I'm also going to put veil on the headlight,I'm getting the same setup as on the stealth bike in the article pretty much.

A black paint job at least when viewed directly from the front or rear as well as some Veil on the lights and license plate would help out a lot. If anything make sure that nothing is white or shiny silver including your helmet. For added peace of mind add a Blinder to the Veil.

BTW what kind of radar detector are you using?

I'm going to get either the escort x50 or the bel rx65 with the h.a.r.d. system, the blinder and veil on top of the carbon fiber fairings I should be pretty safe.

I own the bike in the article and I'd feel naked riding my R1 without the setup it has.

So how much did you end up spending for everything after shipping and all?I don't really speed in excess but my digital speedo has a 9% error rating(I'll be doing the speed limit and old ladies will be passing me like I'm sitting still) so I have to guess how fast i'm going. The police don't understand about the error rating and say that it's faulty equipment and I need to get it fixed or they just think I'm lying to get out of a ticket. It's bad enough you gotta watch for crazy cagers and also worry about how much your over the speed limit. How often does Roy come around,I'd like to get his opinion on the fairings.

Sportbikes typically have a speedo error that favors the rider. Most, or at least the ones I've seen GPS tested, show you going faster than you really are.
There are speedometer recalibration units available that will correct your error. I don't even worry about it on my bike.

Check Roy's site Radar-Detectors.com for pricing on the setup I have.

steathR1 is right, speedo error could be corrected with speedohealer or such unit. Cost around 70-100$. 7-10% error just "normal" according to bikes manufacturers, year, right... My Mercedes shows no error at all. I checked with 2 different GPS receivers.

I`ve been riding my hayabusa at 185 Mph and GPS showed 176...
I guess not a big deal coz i will be going to jail anyway 8)
