Default quick user guide

RacerX has written a manual in layman' s terms, sometimes when techs write manuals they have a problem explaining features in a simple matter, let me know if anything needs to be changed before we add this to our website.

Personally found our original manual easy to follow however please let us know what should be changed if there is something confusing.

NavAlert

This is a quick reference to the features of your new NavAlert. It may be printed for ease of use.
Please refer to the included manual for additional details, such as updating, etc.
Page 3 may be printed as a Quick reference to keep in your vehicle.

Mode Selection:
After plugging in power to the NavAlert, move the switch on the side of the unit to CAM or SAFE mode. D/L is the “Download Position” used for downloading a new NavAlert database to the unit via the USB cable from our website.
SAFE is the safe driving mode and provides information about stored fixed cameras, possible mobile cameras, high collision areas and school zones. (During school hours only). As this will be an ever-evolving database, some collision and school zones may not be available for your area. Please visit the NavAlert website if you have found some you would like included for future use.
CAM is the camera detection mode and provides information on fixed camera positions only.

Volume: The volume of the voice warning and warning tones is adjusted by the volume control.

Menu button use:

Button use in stationary vehicle:

1 Quick button push in stationary vehicle: (Additional quick pushes will cycle through the following screens.)
• User Position: display the user’s current position.
• Date: display the date (mm:dd)
• Odometer: display the total trip distance since power up (kilometers or miles). Will rest upon power down.
• Trip Time: display the total trip time since power up (minutes). Will reset after power down.
• Max Speed: display the maximum speed since power up (km/h or mph). Will reset after power down.
• AVG Speed: display the average speed since power up (km/h or mph). Will reset after power down.
• Satellite information: display the numbers of fixed satellite.

2 Quick button pushes in stationary vehicle:
Time Zone Setting Mode:
While in this mode, each push of the button will allow the time zone to be changed. These are in minutes, plus or minus CST. After reaching desired time zone, wait several seconds and unit will set time and return to main clock screen with new time.
• CST: Central Standard Time
• 60: CST + 60
• 120: CST + 120
• 150: CST + 150
• 180: CST + 180
• 210: CST + 210
• -240: CST – 240
• -180: CST – 180
• -120: CST – 120
• -60: CST – 60

Button use in moving vehicle:

Adding / deleting a user position:
Users may wish to make a record of a position as they are driving.
If the MENU button is pressed briefly while the vehicle is in motion, the NavAlert will store the current position and make the announcement “user position logged”. In the future, when the vehicle travels in the SAME DIRECTION and location as when the position was stored, the driver is advised of the approaching location.
A user position may be deleted from the NavAlert memory simply by pressing MENU button within 5 seconds of ‘user position’ being made, or when NavAlert makes a warning that a previously entered user position is approaching. This feature is an excellent method of alerting the driver to any custom location the driver feels they need to be alerted.
Examples:
• Locations of frequented locations of mobile radar vehicles
• Locations of new fixed cameras not in latest database
• Make sure to report these locations to www.NavAlert.com

Pressing and holding for 2 seconds will allow you to cycle between a speedometer, a compass or an altimeter.
After 2 seconds a chime tone will sound, letting you know you are in this mode.
An additional quick push of the button will go to the next screen. Each single push continues to the next screen.
The screens (modes) are as followed:
• Heading Mode: Display the direction (Heading) of vehicle
• Altitude Mode: Display the driving altitude (This will always be in meters)
• Speed Mode: Display the real speed of vehicle (Either MPH or KMPH) NOTE: MPH display is for United States and KMPH is for Canada.

Here's the downloadable document for those interested.
I made it printer friendly.

If any revisions are made, due to input from this thread, the guide will be updated accordingly.

This should cover the basic operations of the unit.

Default Thanks...

For: NavAlert.com and RacerX - Now we're talking, an easy to read/use document. Thanks for the effort.

For Deputy: Your Exact time issue. I don't have that problem. I used mine today after about a week of non-use. It locked on right away with the correct time - locked on to 9 Satellites. I think yours is wacked.

Looks like I'll be getting lots of road time soon. Looking forward to using NavAlerts real features [red lights, speed traps, etc].
