Speed cameras to be installed at intersection
Wednesday, 26 April 2006

Two intersections in Whyalla are about to receive digital red light and speed cameras to catch law breaking drivers.

The corner of Norrie Avenue and Nicolson Avenue (southern approach) and the corner of Playford Avenue and Elliott Street (northern approach) will receive the high-tech enforcement equipment, with work expected to begin in May.

An initiative of the State Government's Road Safety Strategy, the installation of the cameras has been earmarked for signalised intersections that have high casualty crash records.

Red light and speed cameras are installed to reduce the number of casualty and fatal crashes by targeting drivers who run red lights and speed through intersections.
