Police increase traffic patrols
The Winnetka Police Department will increase traffic enforcement as part of a grant for the Memorial Day Holiday enforcement phase. The Integrated Mini Grant Enforcement (IMaGE) Program is a $33,879 grant, which was awarded to the Winnetka Police Department by the Illinois Department of Transportation in October of 2005. Funds from this grant will pay for officers to work this specific campaign, as well as to reimburse the village for vehicle and fuel related costs.
Winnetka police officers will maintain an increased presence in order to address traffic law violations, such as speeding and intoxicated driving, while focusing on safety belt and child restraint violations.
In addition to participating in the IMaGE enforcement effort, which runs Monday May 22 through June 4, Winnetka Officers will also be participating in the Click It or Ticket safety belt campaign from until May 21.
