Speed traps for accident hot spot
New speed cameras are to be introduced on a notorious Shropshire road following a spate of fatal crashes, bosses revealed today.
The mobile cameras will operate along a 2km stretch of the A41 bypass near Whitchurch, which has claimed the lives of three people in the last year.
West Mercia Safety Camera Partnership communication manager Vicki Bristow said today: “The extension of this site is in direct response to three road deaths along the stretch of road over the past year.”
She added motorists should ensure they are travelling within the speed limit, which was 60mph for cars, while other classes of vehicles were restricted to lower speeds.
The new cameras will be in highly visible vans and will not be in place all the time.
