Firms join forces in bid for speed camera contract

Australian company Tenix Solutions is working with Dublin firm Newcourt in a bid to secure the contract to operate Ireland’s new network of speed cameras.

Tenix was first linked to the speed cameras contract several months ago, and was understood to be interested in bidding for the contract on its own. It is believed to have teamed up with Newcourt because of that firm’s experience in securing government contracts.

The Department of Justice last month said that consultants had been appointed to oversee the introduction of a national network of safety cameras.

These consultants are expected to produce a tender document by the end of next month.

Tenix has operated speed cameras in the Australian state of Victoria for almost ten years.

The company’s system uses a combination of fixed and mobile cameras.
