Default UK - BAN ALERT! - Speed Cam Warning Devices might be baned!

Hate speed cameras? Well, here's a bonus

    June 15, 2006

London, England - A speed camera detector that allows a motorist to spot hidden cameras is to be withdrawn from sale because of the UK government’s plan to ban the device so stock is being sold at cut-price - with certain conditions.

In defiance to the proposed law which is likely to take effect next year, the speed camera detector supplier has announced they will immediately dispose of all remaining stock at a cut price to motorists who quote ‘I hate speed cameras’ at time of ordering.

Mark Cornwall of Car Parts Direct said: "While the 'I hate speed cameras' campaign might seem like childish humour the issue is very serious – speed cameras have ruined motorists’ lives with no real improvement to road safety
"Once our device is outlawed more drivers will lose their licence. Once our current stock has gone a motorist won’t be able to buy a (REMOVED NAME) – at any price."

The (REMOVED NAME) camera-spotter is designed to detect all Gatso and laser speed cameras, including the hidden mobile cameras that most devices cannot detect. (REMOVED NAME) has also guaranteed to pay £60 cash to any user who receives a speeding ticket while their unit is fitted – a unique guarantee not offered by any other supplier of speed camera detectors.

The detector simply plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and slides on to the fascia. It alerts the driver by a series of lights and bleeps to any Gatso or Laser frequency.

It’s ready to go and no subscription or updating is needed. The company says false alerts are likely at traffic lights and supermarket doors but most users consider this a small inconvenience compared to losing a driving licence.

The (REMOVED NAME) device appears on the (REMOVED NAME) website at £199. Briitsh visitors to the site who simply put 'I hate speed cameras' in a box when asked for any other information relevant to the order will have £50 deducted from the price.

Oh man those BTST things, what pieces of crap sold for such an extremely high price. 199 quid! That's V1 money. I think the BTST was sold as a Whistler in the US market retailing for about a c-note.

Anyway I think the bills that have been put into Parliament are only for "detector" style devices, not the GPS systems.
