Speed cameras permanent

Permanent speed cameras have been installed by the A30 London Road Staines, between the cemetery and the Crooked Billet roundabout.

Following a number of complaints from residents about the number of cars exceeding the 30mph limit, Surrey Police decided to make the cameras a regular fixture.

The Highways Agency, which maintains the road, have also agreed to look into safety improvements in the area.

Casualty reduction officer for Spelthorne, PC Mick Pritchard, said: "I am surprised drivers are still unaware of the speed limit.

"Many people believe this is part of a revenue making scheme, which cannot be further from the truth. There is a genuine safety concern."
