The province is considering raising the speed limit to 110 km/h on twelve Manitoba roadways, including the TransCanada Highway once the twinning is complete in October 2007 and eleven other four-lane highways.
The 11 highways being considered are PTH’s 3, 7, 8, 12, 14, 44, 52, 59, 75, 100 and 101.
About 1,550 kilometres of roads in the province would be have the 110 km/h speed limit if the province goes ahead with the initiative.
The current speed limit is 100 km/h.
The province is now accepting proposals from engineering firms to conduct the speed limit review.
