Default Move to Ka in Ontario

Toronto Police and the OPP are starting to use Ka band.
    Probably more Departments will follow.

Aren't they actually launching photo radar, not portable (gun-type) radar?

They used to have it, but the government was kicked out and the photoboxes disappeared. Think that was the early-mid-90's...

Yes back in the 90's when the NDP fluked into power....Lead by Bob Rae

    Hence the term "Photo Raedar"....
When we got rid of the NDP Photo Radar was gone too......but the law was not re-written so Photo Radar is still "on the books".....

There has been "talk" of bringing it back....... not by the Province but by Municipalities
For Traffic safety only of course.....

The OPP still have all the equipment in immaculate condition no doubt...
