Police warn extreme speeders to beware
EXTREME speeders in North Yorkshire are being reminded they will be fast-tracked through the courts and risk losing their licence in days.
North Yorkshire police will be stepping up patrols and manning extra speed checks on Friday on the 10th of the force's No Casualty Days, aimed at cutting the numbers of deaths and injuries on the county's roads.
Friday's initiative will concentrate on speeding drivers and motorcyclists and follows a week-long operation in York by police and firefighters to target speeders.
"Speed in the wrong place at the wrong time can be lethal," said Road Policing Inspector Chris Charlton.
He said anyone caught travelling 30mph above a speed limit would be fast-tracked through the legal process and could end up before the courts in a few days.
