A NARRE Warren black spot has been fitted with a red light camera, giving motorists twice the reason to slow down.
The intersection of Princes Highway and Webb Street is one of eight black spot intersections in Victoria which will have a red light camera switched on from Saturday.
Victorian Minister for Police and Emergency Services Tim Holding made the announcement last week, and said motorists who ran red lights and sped through intersections put the lives of all road users in danger.
Mr Holding said motorists were being given plenty of warning that these new cameras were being turned on.
“Cameras are not there to catch out or trick people,” he said.
“Warning signs have been installed near each intersection to remind motorists of their presence.
“This initiative is about changing driver behaviour and attacking two of the major killers on Victoria’s roads – speeding and running red lights.”
