Yeah I saw this one at:

    http://news.wjla.com/news/stories/0107/385310.html

Hope this doesnt become routine...also...how do they actually tell who is speeding?? I assume they radio to cops of the make/model/color of vehicle....but then I would imagine the cops need to get a good reading of speed via laser perhaps...oh humbug....

They have a radar detector ban and people are still speeding?????
    How can this be?

There is a more detailed article in the Washington Post. You may have to register (it's free) to view it:

Looks like it would be helpful to have a silver vehicle without a sunroof. Troopers say that such vehicles are virtually invisible from the air. Makes sense because they blend in with the pavement.

BTW, police scanners are legal in VA.

"Everybody speeds," said Virginia State Trooper Michael S. Hackney, 26, who is specially trained in using the Visual Average Speed Computer and Recorder detection system, which employs a time and distance computer to clock speeds.
Even the cops know the speed limits are too low. Maybe the people will wake up one day and vote some good people in office so that more of our laws and our speed limits will start making sense.

I need to get a scanner next, I've been putting it off. The times I was hauling a$$ (above 80) on the interstate, I would just slow down everytime I went over the Aircraft Vascar Courses and then speed back up after crossing the third/last line just in case they were up there.

BTW, it's funny to me that some of the courses have the brown signs notifying drivers of aircraft enforcement after you drive over the lines. People that don't know how it works (most people) will see the sign when it's already too late if they are speeding. The few that slowed down after reading the sign, it wouldn't matter. So why even bother putting the sign up after the lines? Not a question to be answered, just another "only in Virginia" issue.

It's simple, they put up the sign alerting people to air-cops because they know that they will slow down thus giving a leo a better chance at catching them.
