State Police to patrol I-84 around the clock

Idaho's NewsChannel 7
BOISE -- This may surprise you -- for 4 hours everyday, from 2 a.m. until 6 a.m., there are no Idaho State Police troopers on the roads, but that's about to change.
Because of more work, longer commutes, and the increase of less-traditional travelers, trooper schedules are being reworked.
There will soon be 24-hour patrol of Interstate 84 in the Treasure Valley.
To make it happen two shifts are being adjusted.
The late night shift will now go from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
And the early day shift will start at 5 a.m. and go until 3 p.m.
We want to continue to keep a heavy focus on those commuter times, morning and evening, especially in the Treasure Valley, said ISP Cpt. Steve Richardson.
To beef up rush hour patrols, ISP will call up officers from outlying towns to help cover shifts and improve response time.
