STATE POLICE: More speed patrols ahead

Speed patrols state police conducted in March resulted in 28 arrests and 14 written warnings, including 22 arrests for speeding.
The patrols, called Speed Patrols Enforcing and Educating Drivers, were conducted March 23 and 30 on Interstates 80 and 39 and U.S. 6.
Two people also were arrested on warrants and three citations were issued for failure to wear a seat belt.
Additional speed patrols will be held in April in La Salle County.
In Illinois, 43 percent of crash fatalities are due in part to speeding., state police report. Statistics show the probability of death, disfigurement or debilitating injury doubles for every 10 mph a vehicle travels more than 50 mph.
