CAMDENTON - The Camden County Sheriff Department will be conducting increased traffic enforcement throughout the county through June 2.

The enforcement is funded by a grant from the Missouri Division of Highway Safety. The focus of the grant will be on hazardous moving violations. Camden County received a total of $3,000 to conduct the enforcement effort. The money will be used to pay the overtime costs to conduct the enforcement.

The month of May tends to be one of the highest months for motor vehicle accidents in the county. In the lake area, that trend continues into the summer months when more motorists are passing through the county.

The enforcement effort is targeted to reduce the number of traffic accidents in Camden County.

Motor vehicle accidents not only have an emotional and physical toll on victims, families and communities, they also cost lost time and productivity, as well as increased insurance costs to policy holders everywhere.

Sheriff John Page said the grants provided by the Missouri Division of Highway Safety are invaluable to departments that have limited resources to conduct such enforcement efforts.
