MN -Austin man includes dog poop with ticket payment

AUSTIN, Minn. — An Austin man who allegedly included dog feces along with his payment for a parking ticket has been charged with disorderly conduct.

The 22-year-old man was charged late last week. He's been summoned to appear in court June 15.

The man's vehicle was ticketed April 18 while it was parked in front of his residence. The complaint says he put an envelope containing his payment and dog feces in a drop box at the law enforcement center.

An Austin police department office employee smelled a rank odor as she gathered envelopes from the box. Opening them, she noticed one leaking a brown fluid, which got onto her hands and desk.

The next morning she awoke with a headache and vomited repeatedly. She was hospitalized for about two days with an undetermined illness.

AUSTIN, Minn., June 22 (UPI) -- An Austin, Minn., man was fined $2,921 and ordered to apologize to a city worker for filling a parking citation envelope with dog poop.

For the misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, Joshua Steven Solberg was also given a 90-day jail sentence that was stayed for a year, the Austin Daily Herald reported Friday.

Solberg must also write a letter of apology to a Mower County court employee who noticed a foul odor and brown liquid oozing from a payment envelope she was processing April 25.

The woman was hospitalized for two days with an unknown illness after the incident.

The court traced the citation back to Solberg, who admitted putting dog feces in the envelope because he was angry about a ticket he received outside his home.
