Photo radar cutting wrecks, tickets in Prescott Valley
The Associated Press
Traffic accidents and the number of traffic citations issued in Prescott Valley have dropped since the police department began using photo radar, the police chief said.
The department began using two photo radar vans in early October.
Two fixed photo radar locations were added in late December. That equipment also catches red-light runners.
"Injury accidents are down," said Sgt. Wayne Nelson, who oversees the photo radar program. "It is working the way it is supposed to."
Police Chief Dan Schatz said that he would like to extend the use of photo radar to state highways, which requires approval from the Arizona Department of Transportation.
