Round Rock police increased their traffic enforcement this week and began targeting drivers who speed through residential areas near parks, pools and other places where kids play.
According to police, officers handed out 130 citations by noon Wednesday, mainly for speeding. Officers say most of the violators lived in the targeted areas and most said they were "not paying attention."
Police say neighborhood complaints helped them decide where to put traffic officers. Officials hoped to educate drivers about the importance of slowing down.
