Your tax and ticket dollars at work, no doubt...

No doubt that money could have been put to better use, than to put a bunch of expensive devices out on the highway that do nothing but emit microwaves. Maybe someone should sue the state claiming that the emissions cause health issues or something.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

    That's just wonderful.

Someone needs to go up the pole and start covering the solar panels.

I wonder how long the batts will last overnight or in periods of little to no sun. (yeah like it's ever not sunny there)

V1s will have a definate edge going through here.. but with so so so many sources mounted so so high... it'd probably be normal to see the bogey counter between 2 3 and 4.

You'd have to learn the area very well to speed through there and tell if there is a k-band gun in use.

    At least it isn't Ka.

Another bit of hope I guess, particularly for belscort users.. The TecDisplay. I'd imagine these are all at the same frequency and that any K-band gun would hopefully be different enough for you to tell if it were a gun or a drone.

The CHP is pretty much all Ka. The locals might be a concern if you are dismissing K band signals.

I wonder how long before people start shooting them with various objects (BBs, Pellets, buck shot).

Wonder if they report speeds to anyone important?

My bet is that the drones are part of the 511 traffic information expansion in the Bay Area. See http://traffic.511.org/default.asp?reload=1 for more info.

I'm anxiously awaiting Roy's response from Caltrans for the official word.

So do they just report traffic flow/car counts?

this sounds like the same strategy they've employed on I95 between New Haven CT and Port Chester NY. What a nuisance  non-stop X band alerts.
