The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the state police will hold a news conference today in Bullskin, Fayette County, to announce an aggressive traffic enforcement program to combat rising fatality rates.

Traffic fatalities in Fayette are rising at an alarming rate this year, with 19 thus far, equaling the total for all of 2006. State police said they will address the problem with education and enforcement.

Speakers will include Capt. Roger N. Waters, commanding officer of Troop B in Washington.

A speed enforcement detail will work along Route 119 during the event.
