The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office plans to look for speeders next week on Midway Boulevard in Port Charlotte and along Taylor Road in Punta Gorda, it announced today.

Officers will man the area between O’Hara and Broadranch drives where last year there were 20 crashes involving 33 vehicles, injuring 13 and causing $156,920 in damages.

Along Taylor Road last year, there were 52 crashes involving 97 vehicles, injuring 21, causing $227,750 in damages.

Officers will also man U.S. 41 and Olean Boulevard in Port Charlotte and Jones Loop and Taylor roads for red light runners.

Last year at U.S. 41 and Olean saw 47 crashes involving 96 vehicles, injuring 17, causing $142,625 in damages.

At Jones Loop and Taylor last year were 15 crashes involving 28 vehicles, injuring 5, causing $62,400 in damages, the office said.

These areas will be patrolled beginning Monday.
