CLEMENTON -- Borough police on Wednesday will celebrate national Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day.

The idea is to encourage locals to take continued measures to keep themselves and loved ones safe on the road.

To mark the occasion, borough police will step up enforcement against aggressive and careless driving during heavy traffic periods. The goal is to have a day without traffic fatalities nationally.

October has been cited among months of peak traffic fatalities, borough police said.
