The Butler County Sheriff's Office will have at least five extra deputies on traffic patrol duties today, with at least seven additional deputies patrolling on Halloween night.
A grant from the state's highway safety office helps pay for the extra patrols, which will be looking for motorists speeding or ignoring traffic signs in area neighborhoods, according to the sheriff's office.
Information: 513-785-1000. Also, volunteers will patrol several neighborhoods in Colerain Township to help keep the streets safe.
Citizens on Patrol, who have received training from the Colerain Township Citizens Police Academy, will patrol from 6-8 p.m. They have no law enforcement authority, police said, but will report suspicious and criminal activity to officers.
