Default AZ - Highway traffic cameras to go statewide

Highway traffic cameras to go statewide
Gary Grado, Tribune
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is set to unveil a new, statewide photo enforcement program at 10 a.m. Thursday.

A news release on the DPS Web site claims the photo enforcement program will be the first statewide program in the country.

The program would only affect traffic enforcement on Arizona highways -- not on surface roads through the state's cities and towns.

DPS director Roger Vanderpool, commander Thomas Woodward and representatives of Redflex Traffic Systems will speak at a scheduled news conference at DPS headquarters in Phoenix. Redflex is a private vendor based in Scottsdale that will administer the program for the state.
