New Law to Impact Speeders
NORTH CAROLINA – Beginning Dec. 1, drivers on North Carolina’s streets and highways will face stiff punishment for traveling at excessive speeds. Two changes enacted by the General Assembly may lead to more frequent suspensions of driver’s license and assessment of insurance points.
The legislative changes will now prohibit drivers charged with speeding in excess of 25 mph over the posted speed limit from receiving reductions due to improper equipment. In addition, judges will no longer be permitted to grant Prayer for Judgment Continuances for those offenses.
