The police will be joined by local government in using cameras to monitor the speed of cars in Budapest in the coming months, reports hirtv.hu.
According to crime prevention councillor Béla Danielisz, the number of the cameras to be deployed is not yet known, but beginning with less than 50 of them is not feasible.
The speed guns will be used from cars by public property inspectors. They are not authorized to impose penalty fines on speeders, but are entitled to send data to police.
According to Danielisz, the speeding cameras are likely to be used along the streets with the highest traffic in Budapest, such as Hungária körút, Rákóczi út and Budaörsi út.
