The Lee County Sheriff’s office announced today that it will target at least one of the following three locations for enforcement Thursday:
-Orange Grove Boulevard, North Fort Myers
-Richmond Avenue, Lehigh Acres
-Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, Fort Myers
Locations are selected based upon high incidents of crashes, traffic surveys and citizen complaints.
Officers issued 235 citations and 146 written warnings Tuesday, according to preliminary results from their work. A sobriety checkpoint also resulted in several arrests, according to the sheriff’s office.
Residents can help by informing officers about problem areas, aggressive or impaired drivers and by compliance with the rules of the road. Traffic deputies are available at 477-1000. The sheriff’s office suggests dialing 911 if a reckless or drunk driver is observed in Lee County.
