Radar unit agreed to be purchased at council meeting

MILLERSPORT - The Millersport Village Council met in Council Chambers at 7 p.m. Feb. 12. Millersport Mayor Dean Severance gave the oath of office to Harold Crabtree, the village's first auxiliary police officer. Crabtree retired from the Columbus Police Department with 26 years experience and also worked at Port Columbus for 10 years.

Letters are being mailed to residents who rented boat docks in 2007. The rental fees will remain the same.

Mike Carder of GGC gave updates on the wastewater project. Doug Carpenter and the Board of Public Affairs members reported on the potential contract with the Village of Buckeye Lake to supply Millersport with bulk water. A motion to proceed with negotiations with Buckeye Lake was approved.
The current contract for trash pick-up expires at the end of March. Residents and local business owners who have complaints or comments concerning trash pick-up are asked to direct their comments to village hall. The village is seeking bids from several companies at this time.

Council agreed to purchase a laser radar unit. Council member Jim Wright has worked to collect donations from local organizations, businesses and individuals to purchase the unit to help the local police enforce the speed limit in the village including the school zone.

The next council meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 11 at village hall.
