Indiana State Police troopers will participate in Operation Pull Over Blitz 54, a traffic enforcement program, today through Sunday, March 23.
During the two-week period, troopers will concentrate their efforts on impaired drivers and restraint violations utilizing federal funding to put additional officers on the road, Lt. Mike Nichols, commander of the Redkey District, said in a news release.
Troopers will also conduct patrols for motorists driving under the influence.
“Driving impaired or riding with someone who is impaired is not worth the risk, and the consequences are serious and real. Not only do you risk killing yourself or someone else, but the trauma and financial costs of a crash or an arrest for driving while impaired can be significant,” Nichols said in the release.
Operation Pull Over is sponsored by the Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving. Federal funding for this initiative is provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Indiana State Police reminds motorists the importance of reporting impaired drivers by calling 911, or contacting the Indiana State Police Redkey District at (800) 761-2985.
