Default Detectors illegal to winsheild mount in CA and Minnesota..!

NOTICE TO DRIVERS IN CALIFORNIA AND MINNESOTA: State law prohibits drivers in California and Minnesota from using suction mounts on their windshields while operating motor vehicles. Other Garmin dashboard or friction mounting options should be used. Garmin does not take any responsibility for any fines, penalties, or damages that may be incurred as a result of disregarding this notice. (See California Vehicle Code Section 26708(a); Minnesota Statutes 2005, Section 169.71)

I've known about this law for a long time. I'm pretty sure it's not new, unless specifically prohibiting suction cups is the new part of this.

Everybody knows that, where have you been :?:

Personally I fully agree with CA and MN law, the windshield should be clear of anything, no obstructions in front of your view, safety first... I have my STI hardwired up by the visor and the Garmin GPS on the dash, nothing stuck in the windshield plus no ugly cables running around in front of my eyes...

old news. Its just a law to prevent obstruction of view. Its rarely enforced.

I think the part about suction cups not being allowed likely is because there have been a few accidents caused by motorists trying to grab their suction cup mounted devices after the suction cups lost their grip to the windshield. Instead 3M VHB tape is the way to go!
