Florida Highway Patrol troopers will be out in force this weekend for one of its "Operation Safe Ride" crackdowns on speeders and unsafe drivers.
The campaign, which runs through Sunday, coincides with spring break activities throughout the state, said FHP Col. John Czernis. March and April are historically peak months for traffic crashes, Czernis said.
Troopers will be using all available tools, including radar, motorcycles and unmarked cars, to catch speeders. Also, the FHP aircraft will spot speeders and direct troopers on the ground to pull them over, Czernis said.
The crackdown will focus on interstate highways, Florida's Turnpike and other major roads where speeding is a problem, he said.
