We are the only state with a radar detector ban. We have the highest fines for speeding in the country when factoring in the abuser fees. We are #2 only behind NC for issuing reckless driving tickets based on speed alone. All this and according to the Virginia government website itself we are only ranked 19th in safety with our traffic fatalities on the rise. Our friends from Maryland that don't get points for out of state speeding tickets and radar detectors and laser jammers are legal in Maryland are ranked safer than us. Also, fatalities in Virginia are on the biggest increase in more than 10 years. I wonder if more tough laws will work?

Kind of funny that Virginia government's own website proves the tough laws we have are providing revenue not safety. If all of our tough speeding laws are really improving traffic safety like the government and most cops say they are, then Virginia should be ranked #1.
