Summer Traffic Safety Patrols Start Today

Over the past several months Sheriff Timothy Cameron has met with communities and community groups to discuss their concerns. One issue of great concern to each group is traffic safety, particularly speeding and aggressive driving.
To address these traffic safety concerns, Sheriff Cameron has initiated a Summer Traffic Safety Enforcement Program.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers will be working with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit patrolling neighborhoods and other areas providing high profile, focused traffic enforcement in an attempt to reduce speeding, aggressive driving, red light, stop sign offenses and other traffic safety violations.
The Deputies will be in the following areas in June:
June 19, 2008 – Wilderness Run, Hunting Quarters and Country Lakes
June 20, 2008 – Buck Hewitt, Victoria Grant and Hickey Hills
June 23, 2008 – Town Creek and Patuxent Homes
June 24, 2008 – Cedar Cove, Greenbrier and Hermanville Road
June 25, 2008 – Route 235 and Route 237 intersection
June 26, 2008 – Old Village Road and Baptist Church Road
June 27, 2008 – Route 5 and Leonardtown Road intersection, Single Tree
June 30, 2008 – South Essex and Patuxent Homes
