Default Wal-Mart Executive Serves Jail Time

BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- The chief financial officer of Wal-Mart Stores has completed half of a 24-hour jail sentence for speeding and is to return next weekend to complete the other half.

Thomas M. Schoewe pleaded guilty in Rogers (Ark.) District Court for reportedly driving 110 mph on Interstate 540.

A state trooper stopped Schoewe in his red Corvette at 1:30 a.m. on New Year's Day. District Judge Doug Schrantz sentenced him to a day in jail.

Beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday, Schoewe served 12 hours in the Benton County jail. He is to report back to serve another 12 hours next Saturday.

A sheriff's office spokesman said Schoewe is not receiving any special treatment. He said Schoewe had his photograph taken and had to wear jail attire. He was housed with other misdemeanor inmates.

The judge also ordered Schoewe to pay a $100 fine and $75 in court costs. Schoewe also must complete a defensive driving course. He had to surrender his driver's license for 90 days, but is allowed to drive for work purposes.

Wal-Mart, based in Bentonville, Ark., is the world's largest retailer.

Seems he could afford enough countermeasures to try and be a little stealthier. Unless that is, he was doomed by instant on by himself.

I happen to live in Arkansas and I was on Interstate 540 yesterday on my way back on a trip (see the V1 forum for my results w/ my V1 on said trip)

I have no idea where he got caught at. I travel 540 all the time and on my trip I had several encounters with the triple digits, hell I was doing an average of 90-100 at any given moment. The speed limit is 70 and straight stretches as far as the eye can see are very common.

This guy must've tried to work the "I work at Walmart let me give you some $$$" approach.

Friend of mine was pulled over doing 95 in a 65 and was just ticketed, granted it was speeding + reckless + careless and prohibitive -- but still. And he drives a RICED OUT 4thG Prelude!

BTW: ASP and AHP both use Ka-band guns. There's not a hint of laser in Arkansas.

RMR doesn't make jammers. They make "scramblers"

Pretty lame... "We don't give special treatment" If it had been any one of us "NORMAL" people we would have been doing the 24hrs straight if not more. Sickens me  I would love to see the court records for other people who have been caught doing similar speeds... You can bet the treatment he recieved is far from univiersal.
