Default Australia to Increase Radar Bands and Reduce Fine Costs

Australia is currently introducing KA band moving Radar and also KU Moving Camera to its line up, 80 KA Band radars are being used in QLD with NSW and Vic to follow and South Australia has introduced KU Radar and NSW is soon to follow.

Also news today is that NSW has reduced the fine for speeding and upped the amount of points you lose when fined.

Looks like Police are getting a little too excited...Time to upgrade all those detectors guys...

Are you sure about that Stalker? Until recently, the only approved radar band in Aus was K band. Recently, there was an ammendment to permit Ka. I understand there are moving Ka radars in ACT and Qld. I dont think Ku is approved for use in Aus.

My source was telling me they are about to use KU in South Australia.

and if past events are correct, NSW will be first to copy them.

    HappyAss,
The only thing special about that Decatur Genesis Ka is that it is new in Australia. There are about 100 plus in Qld, which is the item covered in that news bulletin. I also understand that in Canberra (ACT) there are Ka band guns used by some motorcycle cops.
Again, I know nothing about Ku, and despite what what Stalker says, what happens in Adelaide is pretty well irrelevant in NSW.
What I would expect is to see Ka mobile radar introduced in NSW. One reason for this is that the Ka antennas are very small and easier to incorporate in a police cruiser with SRS systems.
Which of the major US radar makers offers a Ku Antenna system for their mobile radar?

Thats a pretty broad statement, seeing as the dreaded Stalcar/Spectre RDD originates from Queensland! Not all the is 'new' originates in the USofA.

    Yeah Stalker,
Unlike the US, our GM car stayed true to RWD packaging. The Good Lord decreed that them up front are for turnin' and them back there are for drivin' ;-)
