    Default Dropping Hammer On Jammers?

Des Plaines Mayor Tony Arredia freely admits that he likes to listen to rock and roll music on the radio. In particular, he finds joy in tapping his feet to the sounds of "oldies but goodies" music of the 1950s, 60s and 70s.

Just recently, however, something other than music caught Arredia's attention that within the last week has sent him on a crusade to learn more and possibly spearhead change.

A radio commercial advertising the sale of police radar detector jammers has angered the Mayor to the point where he is considering asking local legislators to enact a state law prohibiting their use and/or sale in Illinois.

The type of radio signal jammers that have irked Arredia are manufactured by Rocky Mountain Radar. They are being advertised on the radio as electronic devices that motorists can purchase, place in their vehicles and, when a police radar detector is charting the car's speed, will jam the signal preventing a reading of the vehicle's speed.

NO!!! You don't want the mayor to do something about it. Blinder, Lidatek, and Anti-laser jammers will all be banned as well! This is a very bad thing for us.

I'm with JTW on this one. This is a bad thing because this will AT LEAST extend to blinder/lidatek/antilaser. And who knows, once they get the ball rolling they may decided to steam-roll right through passive countermeasures and radar detectors themselves. RMR screws us once again. And all for a product that is a complete fraud to begin with.

    Default Mayor

I went to the town website, got the e-mail to the Mayor and sent him a link to radarjammer.com

Basically told him that there were already federal laws, that the RMR jammer doesn't work and to save his time and efforts for something else.

Oh thank God. Thank you so much Roy. I hope he drops this crusade immediately.

Here is my letter to the editor:
    (Send them some more)

I am a retired police officer, certified as a radar and laser enforcement instructor and I am very familiar with the Rocky Mountain Radar devices Des Planies Mayor Tony Arredia is concerned about in your article: http://www.journal-topics.com/busine...z050824.1.html

There are already federal laws that do prohibit such devices and on May 10, 2005 David Solomon, the Chief Enforcement Bureau officer at the Federal Communications Commission issued a statement regarding enforcement of these devices: http://www.radarjammer.com/news/fcc-...ent-letter.htm

But the most important thing is that these devices don't even work! I offer a $5000.00 reward for anyone that can show me a RMR product that does work: http://www.radarjammer.com/get-5000/challenge.htm

RMR has a large number of complaints with the El Paso BBB and also a large number of complaints from the Federal Trade Commission.

We have a number of videos from other news sources here that show that none of RMR products work: http://www.radarjammer.com/experts-say/index.htm

RMR also doesn't pay the ticket as they advertise, these are a number of the complaints that are logged with the El Paso BBB.

Instead of passing a new law on something that doesn't work, efforts would be better placed with your IL Attorney General's Office of filing a complaint of false advertising and consumer fraud.

sorry I should of clarified. I basically said what Roy said about the BBB, lack of refunds, and there poor buisness ethics. I would never advocate making jamming illegal come on now guys

Nice letter Roy. I agree with you and JTW -- this is opening up a Pandora's Box we want to keep shut. If they want to focus on RMR, let them focus on RMR's business practices. No one else made the promises -- FALSE promises -- RMR made. No need to paint with a broad brush here.
