Motorists must obey temporary speed signs erected due to the Gautrain construction and the extension of the N17 freeway, said Johannesburg metro police.

"Serious accidents have occurred at some of these locations so motorists are requested to comply with the reduced speed signs," Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, said yesterday.

The speed limit on the N1 has been reduced in places to 80 km per hour between the Buccleuch interchange and 14th Avenue. The N3 speed limit is reduced to 80 km per hour at the Marlboro off- ramps.

The N1 has been reduced to 80 km per hour between Soweto and the Main Reef Road bridge. "Speed cameras are going to be set up at these locations as from today," said Minnaar. - Sapa
