Police launch crackdown on speeding
POLICE chiefs have warned drivers to slow down, as they launched a month-long speeding crackdown in the area.
Speed checks increased on Friday, and Chf Supt Lynn Harris told all her officers to make maximum use of speed camera equipment.
Chf Supt Harris said: "We want to warn all drivers and riders to expect an increase in police speed enforcement activity.
"The higher the speed, the more likely the risk of serious or fatal injury.
"Although it is an all year round priority, we do conduct speed enforcement campaigns which are designed to draw attention to the misery that can be caused by excessive speed," she added.
