Campaigner Robbie the Pict outside the court in Edinburgh
Campaigner Robbie the Pict's challenge to the use of speed cameras has been put on hold while lawyers carry out further research into the rules.
The 61-year-old, from Skye, went to the Court of Justiciary Appeal in Edinburgh after being clocked doing 85mph on the A74 in Dumfriesshire.
He claims speed cameras are illegal because they were not approved, according to the letter of the law.
A further court date is expected in about five weeks' time.

Lord Drummond Young said: "If the point is good it would affect almost every prosecution in the last 24 years, which is an astonishing situation."
However, before appeal judges could hear the argument in full defence advocate Chris Shead asked for further time to investigate the history of road traffic regulations which might apply.
Robbie the Pict is no stranger to the appeal courts in Edinburgh.
He mounted a series of legal challenges to tolls on the Skye Bridge before they were eventually abolished.
