Those hitting the highways will notice a much larger police presence over the Thanksgiving holiday. Illinois State Police will have personnel every ten miles on interstates.
The saturation patrols will start on Wednesday afternoon and be back in full force on Sunday. Those are the two busiest travel days over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Besides speeding, police will also be ticketing those not buckling their seatbelt.
On a side note, state police have changed their protocol on how fast they can respond. Troopers must call supervisors now to drive more than 30 miles per hour above the speed limit.
That's after a trooper going 126 miles per hour lost control and crashed into a car killing two teenagers from southwestern Illinois last Thanksgiving weekend.
