For the Xmas and New Years holidays FHP is going to pull everyone at administrative jobs and put them in traffic enforcement starting at midnight tonite and lasting until Midnight Xmas day. Tomorrow will be the first day of this campaign and there will be rookies trying to look good for the bosses, I bet. Also, with so many cops around they will probably find it worthwhile to breakout the laser guns.
I guess I will slow down a little for the holidays...
TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Highway Patrol announced Tuesday its statewide traffic enforcement plans for the upcoming Christmas and New Year's holidays.
This year's Christmas holiday enforcement period will begin at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. It will end at midnight on Thursday.
The New Year's holiday enforcement period will begin at 12:01 a.m. Dec. 31 and end at midnight Jan. 4.
''We will be out enforcing Florida traffic laws, placing emphasis on motorists who place others in danger,'' said FHP director Col. John Czernis. ``We will have zero tolerance for violators who have a disregard for the safety of others.''
FHP will use zero tolerance enforcement strategies to target aggressive and hazardous violators throughout the state. Troopers will place special emphasis on aggressive driving, driving under the influence, speeding and seat belt violations.
All sworn FHP personnel normally assigned to administrative duties will be reassigned to patrol duties on high volume roadways.
